These are the People Running Our Country

I'm just beside myself.

But wait! It gets BETTER!! Go here and read the article. Note the sublime eloquence of Cheney's spokeswoman. Yessir!

Just when I think I couldn't be more embarrassed to be an American...

I guess I'm missing something! What's to be "embarassed to be an American" and "beside yourself" about? It's just a group of old men getting together to shoot little birds with big guns, and obviously not entirely adept at the concept of where to aim the weapon!! While not very sportsmanlike, there are greater travesties to be undone by.

Sorry, Sherry, but I gotta agree with Claudia here. It was an accident. It happens. Whittington didn't help himself by not announcing his presence as he approached Cheney. People make this kind of mistake all over the world and from all walks of life. There's nothing here that should make you embarassed to be an American.

I suppose I should have been more clear. I've been embarrassed to be an American for quite some time; the fact that I am represented to the rest of the world by the current administration is often more than I can bear: this just sort of puts a lovely sheen on it.

And I've been beside myself LAUGHING. Just imagine his poor spokeswoman, sitting in the car, witnessing the whole thing and thinking to herself "How the FUCK am I going to spin THIS?!?"

The part that made me a little horrified is that the man was attended to immediately because there's so much medical personnel traveling with FrankenVP all the time. Most Americans can't get health insurance but our taxes are paying for round the clock care for POTUS and VPOTUS in the event of pretzel or infarc.

What's he going to do with that lovely smirk of his now that he can't in any conscience use it any more?
